Marcus Mattia is an EFL teacher and public speaker based in Italy with over 30 years’ experience working in the field of ELT. After completing his degree in Foreign Languages at Lancaster University he qualified as an EFL teacher and taught in Piemonte and Bologna. He then took up a role as a consultant for OUP, based in Naples and covering Southern Italy for 11 years. He then moved to Umbria where he returned to full-time teaching in a Liceo Scientifico, at the SLEE Military Academy and in the private sector, including working as a Cambridge Oral Examiner. Between 2017 and 2024 he embarked on a second collaboration with OUP before deciding to pursue a Master’s in TESOL with the University of Birmingham. His main interests in ELT are Second Language Acquisition and Sociolinguistics.
Marcus is currently transferring to the Maremma area, working as a freelance teacher and public speaker. He has three adult children and a large dog!
