In our endeavor to support your work as Editors and provide opportunities for the exchange of experiences and ideas, we are holding regular Editors’ Briefings. This is a series of virtual events exploring industry trends and best practice on a range of topics of direct relevance to our journal editors and editorial office staff.
Join members of our Publication Ethics Working group for an introduction to the OUP Ethics program and how it supports Editors and Editorial Office staff dealing with suspected cases of research and/or publication misconduct. The session will outline how OUP use industry-standard guidelines such as COPE and ICMJE as a framework for responding to suspected cases of misconduct, will outline the important role that Editors and Editorial offices play in surfacing potential problems, and will point out internal and external resources that support a best practice approach. Finally, we will present anonymised case studies focusing on 3 emerging trends – papermill submissions, image manipulation and author name-change requests.
