Support for OxfordAQA schools in the Middle East: Results and Post-results processes guidance

OxfordAQA is a partnership between AQA, the UK’s largest awarding body, and Oxford University Press, a department of the University of Oxford. They offer globally relevant International GCSEs, AS and A-levels to schools across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Their qualifications combine rigorous academic standards with a focus on critical thinking, global skills, and future-ready learning, empowering students to succeed in international education and beyond.

Damien Steel is responsible for providing high quality curriculum and assessment support to schools and partners across the full range of OxfordAQA international qualifications. As the liaison between OxfordAQA centres and AQA operational and assessment teams, Damien plays a central role in ensuring that feedback from educators is carefully considered and used to maintain the relevance, rigour, and global suitability of all OxfordAQA qualifications. He works exclusively on OxfordAQA qualifications, bringing both his classroom experience and assessment expertise to his international work.

Penny Butterworth is an educational specialist working as a Regional Professional Development Manager. She supports schools with educational resources, international qualifications, and delivers training across Asia, recently delivering a wide range of bespoke training for teachers.

Jamie Kirkaldy is OxfordAQA’s Head of Teaching and Learning Support, where he is responsible for supporting all schools teaching OxfordAQA International GCSEs and A-levels, including onboarding, teacher training and resources. Before joining OxfordAQA, Jamie was an English teacher for 11 years, including five years as Head of English at a large secondary school in Oxford, where he was also a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team. He therefore has an insider’s understanding of the challenges schools and teachers face and is dedicated to supporting them.
