As educators, we very often focus on the ‘nuts and bolts’ of teaching and learning. Examples of these include lesson planning, delivering on the language objectives of the unit, designing and delivering tests and quizzes, grading, teaching grammar etc. However, this means that we might pay less attention to other (less obvious) factors that can influence student success and support them on their language learning journey.
