* Session 1: To the Future and Back: Preparing Teachers for the Future Classroom - Now (9:45 - 10:45 VNT)
“Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.” (Dr. Emmett Brown, aka Doc). Although our future will probably still have roads, this quote by the mad scientist in the classic 1985 science fiction film ‘Back to the Future’ does make us think about what may unfold in years to come. This session explores the future from the perspective of high school ELT teachers. It considers ways of approaching CLIL through existing coursebook materials to support students in the present, while also identifying opportunities to better prepare them for the future. Through practical activities using OUP textbook samples, shared support resources, and the integration of best practices from past and present, participants will gain confidence in navigating the evolving educational landscape - whatever road lies ahead.
The workshop will cover three things: what the 4Cs framework is, why it is useful and how it might be used. The workshop will provide teachers with further understanding of how the 4Cs is reflected in CLIL settings and how they can apply 4Cs framework (Coyle et al., 2010) to designing and planning a CLIL lesson in their own teaching contexts.
