*Session 2: Applying CLIL to English Language Teaching through Science Topics in Primary Education: Experiences from the Vietnamese Context (11:00 - 12:00 VNT)
CLIL offers effective opportunities to integrate subject knowledge and language development in primary education. This presentation shares practical experiences in applying CLIL to English language teaching through science-related topics at the primary level in the Vietnamese context. It focuses on classroom-based strategies that enable English teachers in public schools to design engaging lessons using scientific themes to support both conceptual understanding and language skill development. The presentation highlights a range of adaptable teaching strategies, including scaffolded input, hands-on activities, and meaningful language use, which help improve students’ subject knowledge and English proficiency simultaneously. Practical implications are provided to support teachers in diversifying instructional practices in similar educational settings.
