Alessia Cogo
S1 Presenter
Alessia Cogo is Editor-in-Chief of ELT Journal and an applied linguist with extensive experience in research and teaching, working at University College London. Her work focuses on Global Englishes, English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), translanguaging, critical language pedagogy and the implications of these areas for language education. Her recent work also explores the role of generative AI in education and professional communication, with a particular interest in inclusive and socially just pedagogies.
Barbara Hoskins Sakamoto

Barbara Hoskins Sakamoto moved to Japan in 1985 with an MATESOL and a plan to teach for two years. While she has left the country since then, she always seems to return. She is the co-author of Oxford University Press’s best-selling children's English textbook series, Let’s Go, and the online course, English for Teachers. She also authored a chapter on technology in Early Years Second Language Education (Routledge, 2015). Barbara has served as an English Language Specialist for the U.S. State Department and is the Course Director for the International Teacher Development Institute (iTDi.pro).
Dr. Deniz Kurtoğlu Eken

Dr. Deniz Kurtoğlu Eken teaches Academic Literacies at Sabancı University in Turkey, where she also worked as the director of the School of Languages and as coordinator for Projects, Development and Research. Her areas of expertise are in management and leadership training, trainer training, and in school research and development. In addition to her in-service training work, she has designed many training courses for schools and publishers over long years. Geoff Stead

Geoff is a learning technologist, product inventor, and shaper of the creative teams it takes to make them real. He works in the mystical space between humans and technology and has built learning products used by millions worldwide. As Chief Product Officer for Babbel, he launched four new products, rejuvenating the core app and expanding rapidly in the US, generating +30% growth, +30% learning engagement and +100% revenue. He co-wrote Engines of Engagement : A Curious Book About Generative AI, mentors EdTech startups and sits on the British Council’s Assessment Advisory Board, steering the future of English assessment and learning.
Anna Hasper

Anna is a passionate primary-trained teacher and an experienced language teacher educator. She has worked in a wide range of global contexts as a teacher, trainer and course writer. She is a CELTA and DELTA tutor and is currently researching Language Teacher Educators’ motivation and emotions for her PhD. Over the years, Anna has developed an interest in the psychology of learning and teaching and undertaken various courses to support her practice such as NLP, Mindfulness, emotional agility and Compassionate Mind Training (CMT). She’s the author of ‘Activities for social-emotional learning’ and ‘50 ways to Include Learners Affected by Trauma’, as well as OUP’s focus paper on Social-Emotional Learning.
Cecilia Nobre

Cecilia Nobre is a teacher, teacher trainer, DipTESOL, CELTA tutor and mentor with over 20 years of experience and is passionate about online teaching and teacher development. She has taught in Brazil, the UK and Turkey. She is currently doing her PhD in Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick.
Jason Anderson

Dr Jason Anderson (University of Warwick) is a multiple-award-winning teacher educator, author and researcher with experience working in education systems around the world. He researches and writes on a range of topics, including language teaching methodology, multilingual policy and practice, teacher expertise and teacher reflection. He is the author of 12 books for language teachers, including his recent publication Project-based Learning: Cultivating Creativity in the Language Classroom, in the Oxford Handbooks for Language Teachers series.
Shaun Wilden

Shaun is Vice President of IATEFL and Online Course Manager for the International House World Organisation (IHWO), where he also serves as Digital Innovation Advisor. In addition, he is a Departmental Tutor at the University of Oxford’s Department for lifelong learning, where he teaches academic, digital and AI literacy. His most recent publication was as a member of the expert team behind Oxford University Press’s position paper on digital pedagogy. When he’s not working, you’ll usually find Shaun playing board games.
Boelo van der Pool

Boelo has 30+ years of experience in ELT. He is a neurodiversity expert, international teacher trainer, and researcher. Being dyslexic and has ADHD himself, he helps language teachers and schools worldwide to create awareness of neurodiversity and adopt neuroinclusive teaching strategies. He’s a board member of the European Dyslexia Group and a committee member of the IATEFL IP&SEN SIG, and has recently published a global white paper on Neurodivergent Language Teachers.
Robyn Stewart

Robyn Stewart is a teacher trainer and professional development consultant based in Istanbul, Türkiye. She holds a BFA in Drama and an MA in Intercultural Communication from New York University, along with Cambridge CELTA and DELTA, and has recently earned an MA TESOL with distinction from the University of Nottingham. Robyn has worked with pre-service and in-service teachers and students across the MENA region and Southeast Asia. Her research interests include language teacher identity, teacher wellbeing, and motivation, and she is passionate about supporting newly qualified teachers.
Nathaniel Owen

Dr Nathaniel Owen (PhD) is Senior Research and Analysis Manager at Oxford University Press. He holds a PhD in language testing from the University of Leicester, specialising in L2 reading processes. His research interests and publications include the interface of Language Testing and technology, big data analytics, the use of language tests in English-medium instruction contexts, research methods and widening participation in higher education. He has presented work at multiple national and international conferences including Language Testing Forum (LTF), Language Testing Research Colloquium (LTRC) and Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE).
Fari Greenaway

Fari Greenaway is a freelance educational consultant, teacher trainer, manager trainer, author and school inspector with over 20 years' experience in English language teaching and 15 years in academic management. Having progressed from classroom teacher to senior leadership roles, she has extensive experience supporting teachers, academic managers and schools to improve quality and achieve excellence. Through training, consultancy, inspections and professional development programmes, Fari is passionate about fostering reflective practice and empowering educators to develop their skills, confidence and impact. She works internationally with schools, organisations and educational leaders, helping them create effective learning environments and strong academic cultures.
