Reading is a key skill for both learning English and succeeding in exams. This session will identify the key skills that students need to succeed in standardized reading comprehension tests, with a focus on the question types required for new-format MOE exams, such as gapped texts, jumbled paragraphs, and missed paragraphs. The presenter will demonstrate ways to improve students’ test-taking competences using Student Book materials, and teachers will consider how best to balance teaching ‘real-life’ reading skills with exam skills, while maintaining students’ engagement throughout the lesson.
